New York’s Attorney General Letitia James demanded that Nassau County rescind its ban on female transgender athletes that was recently instituted there. The Nassau County Executive, Bruce Blakeman, issued an executive order on February 22, 2024 banning sports organized from county run athletic facilities if they allow transgender girls and women to compete on female teams.
The issue of transgender persons in sports has become very heated and controversial.
