The Largest Farm Animal Sanctuary In The U.S. Is In New York, And It’s Magical

Most people don’t know this, but the largest animal farm sanctuary is located right here in New York.

This is an incredible place, especially if you love animals.  Watkins Glen Animal Sanctuary is home to more than 800 rescue farm animals on nearly 300 acres.  This is a great place to go for a family outing or just to get away from it all.  It even has a place for visitors to stay a day or two in cottages or cabins.

All the Famous People Are Getting Divorced. I Think I Know Why.

While the temperatures have been skyrocketing this summer, this has also been the hottest summer for divorce. 

Many prominent people and top celebrities have announced their Divorce/Separation in the news and social media this summer, including Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau, who posted an announcement on Instagram that he and his wife would be divorcing. 

Summer can create an empty nest syndrome, where parents, while their children are at camp or college, realize they have grown apart.  I also found this interesting; paradoxically as many weddings occur in the summer, people attending these weddings sometimes find themselves comparing their own crumbling relationship to new couples while witnessing a beautiful wedding.

Other factors would include the uncertain times and economics that we find ourselves in today.

There’s A Little-Known Nature Trail Just Waiting For New York Explorers

Sometimes we overlook or don’t know absolute gems in our own back yard.  This sounds like an absolutely divine hiking trail that is off the beaten path and would be wonderful for some grounding down time with nature.  If you don’t get to it this Summer, I also think it would be lovely in the Fall.

More Than Two Dozen States Were Expected To Ban Abortion Post-Roe. Courts Are Keeping It Legal In Several Of Them

As a follow up to my post last month, it has been a year since Roe v Wade was stricken and eliminated the Federal constitutional right to abortion nationwide.  More than a dozen U.S. States have banned or severely restricted access to the procedure.  However, abortion remains legal in 7 states that were expected to ban abortion after Roe was overturned; including Michigan where voters approved a measure to ensure abortion rights in their state constitution.

State court houses seem to have emerged as the battleground for both protecting and restricting access to abortion.  Forty lawsuits challenging abortion bans have been filed in 22 states.  It was believed, prior to the arguments heard on Dobbs v. Jackson, that 26 states were likely or certain to ban abortion.  However, one year later, in 7 of those 26 states, abortion remains legal.
