Unfortunately, hate crime is not only alive and well, but it's becoming more prevalent - even in our own back yard.
A gay couple was recently attacked in Astoria, Queens just because they were walking together on a public street. It's important that we are all more vigilant, aware and supportive to help prevent and stop hate crimes when we see them.
